After many years helping lay the foundations for the club, Sonia and Rich have taken a step back...

Kings Hill Cricket Club relies on the many volunteers who give up their time, from junior coaches and parent managers, through to various members of committees and portfolio groups. Two of our longest-serving committee members and all-round club social legends have recently decided to take a step back from club responsibilities, and we wanted to say a massive thank you to them for their contribution over the years!

Sonia van der Linde has been our long-serving secretary and general face of the club, be it behind the bar or buzzing around our annual Club Day.

Sonia has been an integral part of the Cricket Club for nearly 15 years and, it’s fair to say, the club won’t be the same without her. Her infectious enthusiasm and boundless energy have been the cornerstones on which her contribution has been built. Sonia is always there to help and the success of the annual KHCC Club Day is almost entirely down to her hard work and commitment. It’s been an absolute joy to have her help and support, most recently as our Secretary and she’ll be sorely missed. A huge thank you from everyone at the club.
Nick McGeorge - Club Chair

One of the first people I met at the club, she is always outgoing, loud, and the host of many brilliant nights at the club. Sonia would do anything for anyone, and was fantastic at organising our annual Club Day, making sure everyone knew what they were doing. We’ll definitely miss her input for Get Stuck In days and Club Day. A true friend, and some very big shoes to fill. Now it's time for her to sit back and enjoy whatever is in her glass (and do the odd bar shift as well!). The end of an era. You were, and are, an absolute inspiration. Hardworking, committed and fabulously funny member of the club. The heart of KHCC.
Dave Shepherd - Hangar Bar Manager

As the Chief Organiser of our Annual Club Day, we could rely on her 100% commitment and effort which guaranteed a hugely successful annual event, every year. Sonia had plenty of energy and enthusiasm and an infectious laugh, which I will never forget. Thanks for all your help. We will miss you.

Richard Marriner has driven the organisation and development of The Hangar Bar as well as been a key part of the social side of the club

When I asked Rich to join the committee and help us with a clear strategy for the bar, I couldn’t have imagined the hugely positive impact he’d have across the whole club. Rich’s knowledge is second to none and under his guidance, the bar has gone from strength to strength. It’s fair to say, without his expertise we would not be where we are now. We owe Rich a huge debt of gratitude and I hope he realises now much we appreciate the role he’s played over the last few years - thanks mate, you’ll be missed.
Nick McGeorge - Club Chair

Well what can I say… bossy! Only joking. I gained a massive amount of knowledge from Richard with his vast experience in the trade. And although it’s true he did leave a mess behind him when working the bar, he was always willing to help and always wanted to make the pavilion a better place to be, and always come up with great suggestions on events. With a busy work life, he is now well overdue taking a step back and maybe taking the opportunity to enjoy a few beers at the clubhouse from time to time.
Dave Shepherd - Hangar Bar Manager

Whilst Richard was Chairing the Social Committee, we were very fortunate to have an in-house expert in the hospitality sector which helped us enormously when organising Kings Hill Cricket Club social events. Thanks for all your help over the years Richard. You will be sorely missed.
